The movie in which Jean sang is "Hold Your Man". You can purchase it here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect?tag=lynnshomepage&creative=373489&camp=211189&link_code=as3&path=ASIN/6302605113

and you can read more about it here:

I don't know of the song, but if you find out, please post it here.

Thanks for posting!

Re: Jean Harlow

I'm a huge Harlow fan and know a lot of trivia about her.

The song about her death is played at the end of the special "Blonde Bombshell: Jean Harlow" hosted by Sharon Stone and is shown on Turner Classic Movies once in a while

Re: Jean Harlow

I'm such a huge fan of Harlow too! When she is on camera you can't take your eyes off of her; nobody else matters. This is what being a "star" means, and very few of today have it.

Have you ever seen her earlier movies? She was a diamond in the rough. So was M. Monroe, Crawford and many others. There is something about them. Stars like that need to be nurtured into their full potential. They entertain us so much.

Re: Jean Harlow

Hello Russell and everyone. I agree with you Russell, about the actress's of the silver screen era days, being so alluring and fascinating, that you cannot take your eyes off them at all during their screen presence. In those days there were many many actress's and actors who could hold a spell over the public, many of them were deserving of our admiration, especially for me the gorgeous Eleanor Powell the glorious tap dancer, who danced her way into my heart. I too cannot take my eyes off her when she appears on the screen. Now, how many can you say that off nowadays. Not many, if any at all.

Re: Jean Harlow

Hi Robert,

I so completely agree with you. I have many theories as to why people today don't have the same enchanting kind of "star quality," of yesteryear. Some of them (my ideas) are too unpopular, shall we say, in todays world to divulge.

Anyway, I'm so intrigued with your choice of Elenor Powell as one of your favorites. I so agree with you that she was quite fascinating, but to me I'm surprised that she has fans still today because her "star" was rather short lived, unfortunately. I would love to hear your comments sometime.

Re: Jean Harlow

Hi Russell and everyone. Thank you for your post on here Russell. If you would like to know my opinions on Eleanor Powell, just read my posts on the ELEANOR POWELL subject page on this forum (page one), including My Poem For Ellie.

Yes Russell, Ellies "star" was short lived in movies, making movies between 1935 and 1943, plus a cameo in 1950. But Ellie gained many new fans, after the release of the "Thats Entertainment" film in 1974, plus also in the subsequent follow ups Volume 11 and 111.

As you say Ellies "star" was short lived, but that could also be said of Jean Harlow, who passed away at a very young age, admittedly Jean Harlow made a few more films than Ellie did.

Anyway thanks for your posts Russell, I look forward to reading many more in the future ROBERT M.

Re: Jean Harlow

Hi Robert and all,

You are right about Harlow too. It's so sad because she was so incredibly fascinating! Once can't take one's eyes off of her, it's true.

Don't you find it odd that the three most famous blonde bombshell's, Harlow, Monroe and Mansfield, died too early? Makes one wonder...

Nice hearing from you Robert, and I love Elenor Powell too!

Re: Jean Harlow

Hi Lynn, Russell and everyone. Nice to see a couple of posts on the message boards, the first for a while.

Russell, you seem to have some theories of your own regarding actress's from the past, and even the present for that matter. Are you going to let us all into your "secret" theories??

Re: Jean Harlow

I private messaged Gerard with the answer to his question about the song about Jean Harlow's death. It was done by Lead Belly. A famous blues sing of the time.

Re: Jean Harlow

What a diamond in the rough she was.
Such a shame she was lost to us at the age of 26.
Jean will always be the first Blonde Bombshell and icon to past, present and future actresses.
A true rags to riches story proving that some do make it in Hollywood.
What I find is funny that a Jean Harlow autograph is very rare as her mother signed most of them.
Even mom's sugnature on a Jean harlow pic is worth some money.lol
