Uncensored versions of Garbo"s "Mata Hari" and "TFW""
Hello everyone This message is about two Greta Garbo films which were victims of censorship. "Mata Hari" and "Two Faced Woman". As you probably know "Mata Hari" was censored during its reissue in 1939 by the code Hays and "TFW" when it came out in 1941. However, the uncensored prints of both films do exist. I had the immense luck to watch the uncesnored "Mata Hari" in Brussels in 2005 and "TFW" in London in 2004. Efforts are made and the subject was brought to the attention of George Feltenstein who has reacted favorably to the issue. What we are hoping of course is to be able to see one day in the near future we hope these two films restored and issued on DVD in their original uncensored versions. In order to back up these efforts a dear friend has prepared a petition which will be sent to Mr Feltenstein so that these films may be released on DVD. For those of you who admire Greta Garbo and her genious as an actress or like and respect classic films in general, please sign this petition, it is important: http://www.petitiononline.com/GarboDVD/petition.html |
