Poetry

Lullaby
(for Ebere and Ifeanyi)

by Onyeka Nwelue

Sleep slowly sweet swan
Weep warmly weak wren
Deep; drowsy, drowns dawn
Kit! Kept kettle Kate*-

Calm creaks carelessly
Below bends billows
Flowing, flies far
With withered waters
Pattering, paw-paw *******

Swans sing solemn songs
Birds bear big beards
Riddles ride rude rat-

Little lamb lures lullaby
Legs left long letters
Lights lit little lamps
Ladies like limping leopards-

Little lamb luring lullaby-

Songs of poets

SONGS OF POETS

Songs of poets
Songs of love
Hinging on spectrum of cultures
Amid tribes and colours
Fervent ululations of poetic sages
like torrents of flood
Ego-Alowes the maestro
Postured in the pulpit
Regulating the pulsating rhythms
Reeling from our sancrosant mellifluous voices
Pens bedecked in Alto andSoprano and
Then bass harping up the razz-mattazz
Elixir of their immortal creativity

Songs of poets
Songs of brotherliness
Creams of poetic icons
Assembled in mega enclave
Pontificating the gospel of love
To our groggy ears
Harassing the walls of our somnolent acre
With sound raging from their soothing gongs
Relinquishind all from the vestiges of potent fracas
Resurrecting our decomposing carcass

Songs of poets
Songs of love
Greet the poets ingenuity
Out of the realm of nothingness
Rest this operatic soap-box
Harnessed from originality
Mulching the soil of our creativity
Bemoaning the laggard minds
And charging our buggered abdomens

Songs of Poets
Songs of Poets
From construed imagination
that mellows bruises
Invent of their ultimate creation
Abounding in their purse
Dot of ink immortal
Like ancestral relics
Dishing qualified satiation
that releases endearing savour
Slamming the obdurate minds
Arresting the tents of hawks
May this thunderous bang abound
And may this song never go mortal
