Message:   CIVIL WAR RETURNS TO CHEADLE LAKE PARK IN LEBANON!

The Northwest Civil War Council will present a full reenactment at Cheadle Lake Park in Lebanon May 17th & 18th. This is the first public event of the year for the NCWC and will include as many as 500 Civil War reenactors presenting living conditions and circumstances of early 1863 as well as battle reenactments each day with artillery, infantry and cavalry. The event, open to the public from 9am to 6pm on Saturday and 9am to 4:30 pm on Sunday, offers over 4 acres of living history with reenactors in period clothing and uniforms, campsites, and character. Battles are scheduled at 11am and 3pm. There will also be demonstrations presenting period medical practices each day, music demonstrations, artillery and cavalry demonstrations, a daily fashion show and hundreds of period tents showing a variety of activities that would be found at an 1863 military and civilian campsite. There will also be a Civil War era Church service on Sunday morning at 9:30. Admission costs are $6.00 for regular admittance, $4.00 for seniors and students with no fee for children under 6 years of age. Cheadle Lake Park is just east of Lebanon to the north of highway 20. It is the location of the Strawberry Festival each year as well.
The Northwest Civil War Council (NCWC) is a non-profit living history organization dedicated to educating the public and our members about the American Civil War. Through membership in the NCWC one has the opportunity to recreate portions of the past in educational drama at reenactments, through which the spectator, as well as the participant, discover and learn more about their history and the people who lived during the year 1863 in Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Living history is our hobby and is one of the most dynamic mediums available to those in pursuit of the past. A reenactment is a gathering of period personalities living and working within the event portraying their particular impression. Our members wear authentically reproduced clothing, utilize black powder weapons, cook over open fires and sleep in canvas tents while they participate in battle reenactments and military or civilian life.
