Message:   I personally use a hope stove. I like it better then my modern kitchen stove. It sits on the ground. It has a door in the front so the wood can go in the front instead of having to remove everything to stick it in the top. As for regulating the heat it actually does pretty good itself. Sometimes I get it too hot and just let the fire go out some. I can also open the door to get a draft in there if it does not burn well. It does not take as much wood as some of them do. It is also easy to tip over when not in use for an open fire pit. It is very stable and has a chimney that puts the smoke above you. The cooking surfice is large enough for more then one frying pan or cooking item. I have used a very, very large dutch oven to cook a turkey in, using the stove. I can send you a picture if you would like on.
