We also have a Hope Stove and like it a lot. Ours has a small opening in the front on top, which hasn't been aproblem. Excellent cooking surface and if you put a dutch oven next to it, you can bake next to the stove while you cook something else, or keep something hot until the whole meal is done. They were originally issued to the army but many went on the side of the road because of space and weight (for them) issues. There are a couple in the artillery camp you can come by and see. John Leckie built mine. I like them because they are fairly light, (substantially lighter than a wood stove) and take little room in the truck for transportation to events. |
