This is information from another animal insulin user who posted it on another diabetes group. I'm reposting it here with his permission.
Hi all,
Last March I had to pay 5% customs duty on my ship from
Wockhardt. It APPEARS that TNT has a third party collecting
this, so it MAY not be an one-off incident. Who knows.
A person has contacted IDDT about their experience obtaining
their USDA import permit. They said that USDA had waived the
$95 fee. I called the USDA and the lady answering the phone
said yes it's being waived for INDIVIDUAL import. KOOL-let's
see if this continues. I can't verify this personally cause
mine isn't up for renewal for a couple years.
I bought 2 vials of Hypurin Regular Insulin Pork in July from
Newton Pharmacy in Surrey, BC outside of Vancouver. It arrived
in three days and was still cool. I live east of the
Mississippe, so that was right-quick. Price was real salty
tho at $119 each plus $10 express ship at Canada Post.

I ordered two vials last week from Pharmaweb Canada in Montreal.
They called me back and said they needed a prescription. BUMMER!
It appears that it's provincial-it depends on which province you
order it thru. Diana at Canada Diabetes Assoc(CDA) was extremely
helpful. She talked to associates and even called a pharma chain
in Ottawa and verified it's OTC in Ontario. KOOL! She's at

Constantine 1-416-438-6727 wrote from Nucro-Technics(who is
the distributor of Wockhardt insulin in Canada) and also
verified it's provincial. Just like eh, the States? Well that's
the scoop for 3 of 10 provinces. She wrote me that
eDrugs Canada would supply Wockhardt Insulin Pork to people
in the States without a script. They're at 1-866-229-1999.
It's still salty at $115 plus $18 express shipping. They
ship outa Toronto so if you're in the East USA it's a
better option.
CHOICE it matters. BigPharma has plans to discontinue all
non-analog insulin, I'm sorry to say.
