The "company board" for Eli Lilly at CafePharma has some interesting material. Evidently SOME reps KNEW the lies they were compelled to tell, while others did not bother to inform themselves as to possible side effects . . . but glibly spewed the company line to any and all (not just psychiatrists--but general practitioners.)
While I feel Lilly and its chief executives and scientists SHOULD be criminally prosecuted, how many doctors should be added to that list.
For a doctor to prostitute his 12+ years of advanced education to a pharmaceutical--because it's easy, or because the latest sales rep was a real "hottie," or because he isn't truly interested enough to seek out information himself--leaves him (them) with more than a small degree of culpability. And while I address their actions in the unfolding Zyprexa debacle, they (medical professionals) were equally guilty in the promotion of rDNA insulin. |
