Message:   I've been watching with pleasure too, as Lilly is raked over the coals for their complicitness in this debacle. Zyprexa more than any other atypical antipsychotic drug causes metabolic dysfunction. This latest uncovering of facts has come about because of the discovery of the promotion of this drug in dementia....but this is just the tip of the iceberg........Zyprexa is also being underhandedly being promoted. (meaning Lilly is flying under the radar screen on this, and denying all involvement, and stating Zyprexa is not approved for these uses)

The uses for Zyprexa being tested in clinical trials or being promoted MD to MD include: in children: behavior disorder of any kind, and encompass ADD, ADHD, sleep problems, bedwetting, school problems, any aggressive behaviors, depression, anxiety disorders, panic disorders. clinical trials recruiting right now for use in autistic children.

In adults, they are still looking at uses in dementia, even though most studies found dangers and inefficacy with Alzheimer's for example. People with Parkinsons related psychosis, to alleviate tardive dyskinesia (one of the very long term and irreversible effects that this class of drugs is supposed to cause less of, but causes it nevertheless), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Burning Tongue (Glossodynia), Augmenting Opiate therapy for cancer pain control, Body dysmorphic syndrome, combined with antidepressants(Symbyax), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and now even for Migraine Headache sufferers and for Anorexia and eating disorders (to capitalize on the appetite stimulant effects)

This drug is reported by some to cause metabolic dysfunction at a rate of 10x the other drugs in the atypical antipsychotic class, though Lilly continues to deny this vehemently. Looks like the "expanding market" for Zyprexa puts many people at risk of developing diabetes and everyone should be taking a closer look at Zyprexa if their MD recommends it for any unapproved reason. Its use in children is skyrocketing to the point that now they are recommending the use of Metformin to counteract the weight gain and possible developement of diabetes. Metformin has its own risks of potentially fatal lactic acidosis, and Vitamin B12 deficiencies. Long term safety has not been established, yet this is being looked upon as a possible solution, instead of using a less risky drug.....sounds like a catastrophe in the making, and definitely one cause of the rising rates of diabetes.

Interesting that yesterday in the news Lilly and a company in India annnounce a partnership , where research and development clinical testing of Lilly's drugs will start....drugs to treat metabolic problems!!!!

There is just no end to their crimes against humanity!! And I am seeing RED as I watch this unfold, yet see the maneuverings behind the scene to keep this drug in whatever spotlight they can grab.

Kudos to Gottstein for calling for a Dear Doctor letter to be issued by Lilly warning of the many dangers of Zyprexa!
