Many people fail to understand the massive impy act Lilly has had on our lives.....not just with diabetes, though this is of prime concern here. Make no mistake, while other drugs of the class of antipsychotics also carry black box warnings for diabetes risks...Zyprexa from Lilly is up to 10 times as likely to cause diabetes as any of the others do.
Its off label promotions for so many unapproved and inappropriate uses, especially to children require that we all become aware of these risks and be informed. The link above is to the IMVA document on Eli Lilly and includes some links to the insulin issues we face as well. It started with Thimerosal, then insulin and switching to the rDNA, removing natural insulins, and now Zyprexa...and most recently, another of their drugs promoted for diabetics: Cymbalta has been linked to hyperglycemia. Cymbalta is an antidepressant that had five suicides in clinical trials....Zyprexa denied any link to this drug, despite the fact that no previous depression nor suicidal ideation was found in the victims......its recommended for diabetics who are depressed more than others without chronic diseases, and also now for neuropathic pain in diabetes.
