S.A Dressage Championship-Thank you
"I own 'Chalani Winston' 6 year old ASH. I have been a member of ASH Central for about 20 years and this is my third ASH. I still own 'Rexsheem' who is retired from competing & is now used purely for pleasure riding. I am the lucky recipient of an award donated by Australian Stock Horse Society of 'Best performed' at the SA Dressage Championships held on 12th & 13th March 2005. It was an unexpected surprise as it wasn't presented at the time but a few days later. I imagine this was because I was only competing on the Saturday and didn't attend on the Sunday. Apparently, the award didn't get into the program in time so I wasn't even aware that it was an award to be given out, or I would have made further enquiries on the weekend. This type of award is fantastic for us few Dressage competitors that have ASH's. I am proud to compete on my ASH and hope that this helps to lift the profile of ASH in other horse sports apart from just purely Stock events. Because as we all know ASH's are very versatile and can compete in any of the horse sports. Anything I can do in my chosen field of Dressage to help to lift ASH profile, I am happy to be involved in. I would like to thank the Australian Stock Horse Society for the award & hope this type of award can continue." Regards Cathy Beer.

Thanks Cathy, Congratulations on winning the award. I'll make sure your note is in the next stockwhip as it is lovely to read news from people who are enjoying competing with their ASH in disciplines other than shows and campdrafting etc. Rest assured that the current committee is eager to reward our best performing horses in all sports, whether it be Pony Club or Carriage Driving. As such we have allocated a certain amount of funds to be put towards sponsoring "Best Performed" ASH awards in as many types of competition as possible. Unfortunately in your case the decision to sponsor the dressage championships was made just a little too late to be put into the program. Next year we will make sure that everyone is aware of the award. Hopefully, as you say, these awards will help lift our breeds profile.
