Message:   NEW BOOK: Syosset People and Places. I knew this was in the works and thanks to Warren who has posted a link on his LIGC website you can buy from Amazon. Great estates like Woodside, Fairleigh, Knollwood, Chelsea, Oheka, Mallow, etc. are covered. In the style of Rosyln Then and Now. OLD BOOK: Dynamics of Community Change; The Case of Long Island's Declining Gold Coast. Published by Ira J. Friedman, Inc. of Pt Washington, NY in 1968. Author was Dennis Sobin. Fascinating time capsule from the late sixties! A textbook approach covering social, political, economic, and psychological resons for the start of the Gold Coast to its deline. Pictures of Knollwood ruins before the trees took over. Overhead shots before and after subdivision of East Island and the Morgan estate. Did you know that Meudon's stable complex was run as a dairy in the 60s? That ED Morgan{Wheatly} was considered the first of the "Gold Coasters"? Interviews with estate owners and employees. A must if you can find it.
