Message:   You should be aware that MBP can be involved even if the alleged perpetrator only makes claims of illness and doesn't actually induce it. But this could also be a "hypochondria by proxy" case too. I go into management in my book, but it has to be said that the prognosis isn't too good. Instead, one may need to focus on limit-setting and enforcement of interpersonal boundaries more than hoping to change the root behavior and attitudes. But take these comments with a grain of salt because I obviously don't know your mother and haven't evaluated her. Good luck.
