Subject:   Munchausen by Proxy
Name:   Neighbor
Date Posted:   Jan 24, 08 - 11:27 AM
Message:   I think my neighbor has this illness. Her 2 pre-teen children are ALWAYS going to specialists for one disorder or another. For example, her 11 year old boy has rickets because he is experiencing leg cramps, and missed almost a month of school because he had tubes (in his ears) removed. Although he missed that much school, they still went to the beach for a vacation and he attends Karate practice every week. He has also just recently started baseball practice twice a week, but is too sick to go to school?!?!
Her 13 year old daughter is just as bad. The mother told me that she took her to the GYN because the girl was experiencing severe pain and the mother just knew it was ovarian tumors. The girl is also going to a neurologist for headaches (that keep her out of school, but not cheerleading or gymanstics practice).

What makes me think this is munchausen by proxy is because she goes to different doctors/hospitals every single time.

My question - how do I intervene? I have to live next door to this family, but I really do see a problem.

CAN ANYONE HELP?!
