Message:   After reading some of the posts on this site I decided to inquire about this issue. My 25 year old step daughter shows some signs of FD and Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. She was 11 when her Father and I got married and never wanted to be a part of our family. She moved back to her Mom as the age of 13. She bagan to have headaches and was very anti-social. At 20 years old she claimed she was sexually abused as a child by her grandfather although she never mentioned this until shortly after his death and she told me first. She stated she thought I wouldn't believe her. I suggested she tell her mother and father (my husband) and get some professional help. She hesitated telling her Father and asked me to tell him for her. She manipulates her father for money and has successfully received large sums of money to help her through financial crisis'

She is now married with 2 girls a 2 and a 4 year old. The 4 year old is vomiting every night before she goes to bed. She took her to the hospital and they performed an MRI and the tests results were negative for a neuro problem. The vomiting persisted and she took her back to the hospital and they don't know whats wrong with her. They are treating her with some drug she couldn't remember the name that treats diebetics that is helping her eat.

She is married although she lives with her mother and step father along with the children. Her husband gets to visit. She has had a pattern of manipulation and money seeking in the past. I believed her at first about the sexual abuse although now after 5 years of not seeking any therapy about the issue it makes me question the truth. Often she creates stories and panics about money and I believe she is using the children to manipulate her family to get attention and sympathy. She has an eating disorder where she starves herself for fear of gaining weight. She is 5'3" and weighed 110 pounds at 9 months pregnant. When she is not pregnant she weighs 90 pounds and is very pale and sickly looking. Her 4 year old daughter does not enjoy eating and and has to be pleaded with to eat her meals. Her 2 year old wants to eat all the time but is not allowed to. I don't know if this is Muchausen Syndrome by Proxy or just ignorance on her part to take care of these children. I just hate to see dysfunction passed down to children when she chooses not to seek help. Am I just reading into this too much?
Thank you,
Sheri
