I think I have T2T
I went for my 19 week ultrasound this week (I am 20 weeks tommorrow )and have been advised there is nearly a 2 week GA difference between my ID twins. Fluid looks ok at this stage. I am going to Westmead for further testing next week. I am looking at all these websites and totally freaking regarding what the implications of this is. I want to be well informed but looking at things it doesnt look-well positive. |

Cindy, I'm sorry that you're possibly facing TTTS. It's an aweful diagnosis to be made. My boys had TTTS and I delivered them at 32 weeks gestation and they are fine. 1 was smaller than the other but thank goodness they will soon be home. There is a doctor in Sydney who specialises in TTTS and there is laser surgery that can be done. I looked into all of them. I'm happy to chat to you in greater detail so email me with all the questions you have. Good luck. |

Cindy If its not TTTS then thats great - but if it is be very vigilant and make sure that you are well informed and you have doctors who know what they are doing. If you are not sure, or are concerned about delays in treatment, push the doctors and get a second / third opinion if necessary. TTTS can progress very quickly and you don't want to regret not doing everything you can ASAP for your babies. Good luck and keep in touch with this board. Jo |

Hi Cindy, I’m only a week or so behind you, being preg with my 2nd set of twins (4th and 5th child). At my big twins’ 19 wk scan they measured 3 wks apart, and did indeed have TTS. We had fortnightly scans (weekly towards the end) to monitor the condition. Although TTS did worsen over time (the size dif increased and little twin had very reduced amniotic fluid) it never became life-threatening (ie: needing immediate early delivery). They were eventually born at 38 weeks, weighing 5 lb and 7 lb. They are now thoroughly healthy toddlers. I should find out this week at little twins 19/20 wk scan whether they have TTS? (The signs are worrying me – I gained 5 cm and 2 kg overnight on Monday – and immediately thought “oh no not again!!”). I hope my big twins story might be comforting? Only the extreme minority of worst-case stories seems to appear on the net. I hope all goes well for you and your precious bundles, Amy (burtonmail@optusnet.com.au) |
