Budgie Funeral, my sad story |

my month started out great, i was the happiest person in the world when my two budgies layed their first egg. After over a year of trying on august the first, my first egg was layed. as the days went on a grand total of 5 eggs were layed and i was so overjoyed. i did everything possible to keep my birds in the best health and keep them happy and exercised in order to bring up their new chicks. after 19 patient days of waiting no eggs hatched. as the days went on i got worried and my hen started to loose hope. she sat on the eggs constantly ensuring they were kept warm and well. today after 30 long days, she came out for good and stopped laying on the eggs. it was then after about 6 hours of her not going in i took the next box out and held them over a flashlight. only one of the five eggs looked dark. i contacted my vet and he told me to crack them open and see if they were fertile or not so i did and sure enough my one dark egg contained a chick.....a dead chick. my new chick was fully developed from beak and eyes to wings and toes, but dead none the less. i dont know what went wrong....my new baby frostbite is now burried with my other passed on bird infront of the birdbath in my backyard. rest in peace my little angel i will always love you |
