Smooth Collie Pup

Hello - I recently lost my dog of 10 years to illness and, after much thought, would like to have another. I'm having great difficulty in finding a Smooth Collie breeder with a litter in my area of the UK (Kent) and wondered if anyone could possibly help. Ideally I'd like a tri-colour male but would be equally happy with a female. Here's hoping!!!

Thanks to the people who took the time to read the above post. I'm not sorted with a breeder and fingers crossed, the litter is due on 30th Oct.

Hi Gerard,

Did you get your pup? If not then are some advertised on the Smooth Collie Club of GB website.

Do let us know how you get on.

Good luck, Jean

Re: Smooth Collie Pup

Hello Jean,

Yes - we collect our Smooth on 30th December 05. I contacted the Smooth Collie Club and Jeanette MacGregor was extremely helpful and put me in touch with breeders who were expecting a litter.

I will post details of pup's progress in due course.

Re: Smooth Collie Pup

Hi, I am about to begin raising a smooth collie pup at 9 weeks for a group in the US (Southeastern Guide Dogs). Wondering if you have any information on training I can read up on? They will provide a manual soon (I'm geting the pup on 3/13/06) but, wanted to see if there's anything on the internet. Any help would be great, thanks!

Re: Smooth Collie Pup

Hello Rebecca,

Nice to hear from you and Good Luck with that Smooth puppy. Do let us know how his guide dog training goes on.

I can't think of any book that deals specifically with training Smooths. Any good dog-training book should be useful. Smooths get bored very easily - so keep the training short and fun - and try to keep it varied too. They learn very fast (if they want to) so you should have fun.

Good Luck! Jean
