Hi Hellen,

If you go to http://www.obedienceuk.com/
Look at the contents list on the left hand side of the page and you may be able to find a club near you that can help with your boy.

Good luck with him.

Re: new 6 month collie....help!!!....

I have two and they are constantly bored around my office (even though they don't have to stay home).
Sometimes I feel like an 'animal enrichment' person like at the zoo. Some things that have worked for me:
- Those rolling treat balls that dispense food if you roll them right
- Frozen cow femur bones with meat on them (or just the bones without the meat)
- Fill empty bones (no marrow) with peanut butter or cheeze whiz
- Destructable treats (put a pizza crust in a box and shut it, put a cookie in a milk jug and squish it)
- Stuffed toys to destroy (need supervision)

I have also found both of my dog to be FAR more manageable when they are VERY tired (just walking is not enough to tire out either of them) - we play fetch in the backyard, or if I need them tired quick I will stand at the top of the stairs and either throw toys or treats down the stairs and they will retieve/eat them. This can be hard on their joints, so I only play it when I'm desperate.
Playing the 'come here' game also tires them out (two people standing far apart each call the dog in turn).

Then they're much more manageable. And of course, the obligatory obedience classes or dog sports to keep them busy too.
