Pat and Tanni Thompson

Well,Pat, what a way to start a new obedience season! Congratulations on winning Tanni's second novice-you must be very proud of her(and yourself!)and it's lovely to have these wins under your belt, because sometimes Novice can be the hardest class to win out of,there are usually quite a few dogs just ready for their wins battling it out at every show. Have you worked any Test A with her and how is her Sendaway for Test B?
Sorry I didn't meet up with you at Crufts, I hardly saw anyone this year, don't know why---- maybe we were frightened we'd lose our seats!
What show did you win at? How many novices do you still have to work? We don't have a show till late April so little Miss Flight will be so excited when she gets there-oh,oh!
All the best for the rest of the season.
Pat

Re: Pat and Tanni Thompson

Many thanks Joan! I can't tell you how delighted I am. I really wasn't expecting so much so soon in the season. It was at the Midland Border Collie Championship Show on Easter Monday. She also came 4th on Good Friday so she was obviously on form.

I think the presure was off me as it was my first 'Ticket' round with Dusky, my Sheltie. Suffices to say she thought she was required to retrieve a feather instead of doing the sendaway! Hmmmm..

Tanni's not ready for Test 'A' yet as I don't think she can work without commands...her sendaway is very good though....

She only has 4 more Open Novices booked and Limit but I may not do them all.

Interestinlg she is due in season and it was immediately prior to her seasons last year that she did well. She certainly seems even more hyper at the moment. I wonder if other people find this?

Have you got shows booked?

BFN

Re: Pat and Tanni Thompson

What a weekend!
Yes,I think hormones have a huge affect on ********* work - Florin and Flight have both been spayed fairly early(teenage months)so it wasn't so noticeable with them but Flicka used to rule the world for the month before she came in,then buried her head in her hands when she would have been in whelp and rearing pups then I had 2 or 3 months when she would almost be normal until the next season came along----. It was only when I had her spayed when she was nearly 5 that the rollercoaster effect was lost and she got her novice wins aged 5 and 7 - co-operation was not one of her virtues! I know she was an extreme case but the peaks and troughs seem fairly common.
We have 3 shows late April and 3 early May,then I have my judging stints so the next are mid June - the year's almost gone!
All the best in your transition to A and B and whisper in Sheltie Dusky's ear!
