Where are all the Collies in Obedience Competitions?

Is there anyone out there apart from Joan and myself competing in Obedience in the UK with Rough or Smooth Collies? Surely there must be some people trying?

Do let us know?

I have leapt on people at show I've been to recently but they were either general public, just passing by, or turned out to be Shelties.

Any people in other countries competing?

Re: Where are all the Collies in Obedience Competitions?

Hello Pat, I have a year old rough collie (meant to be a cross from Dogs Trust, but looks very much like a pure one!) We entered at Prestwick this year to see how she would cope and did ok. We have been having problems with her but have been seeing a behaviourist and all her problems are coming from me! Not being the leader of the pack is confusing her seemingly! Anyway she is miles better and we will be entering shows in Scotland next year. I hope to see you and yours then. Hazel and Heidi.

Re: Where are all the Collies in Obedience Competitions?

Hi Hazel, How lovely to hear from you, I'm so glad there are some other people out there willing to give these lovely dogs a chance at competing!

I do wish you all the best with Heidi and you have your problems sorted now. Any obedience training you do with her will enforce your position as pack leader. If there is anything I can help you with do give me a shout.

Hopefully we sill meet up sometime although I don't tend to go as far afield as Scotland to the obedience shows, but you might bump into Joan Day up there. Perhaps when you get the bug we will meet up in the Midlands one day!
