I am so sorry that you were robbed of innocence and the joys of childhood by someone you had every right to expect to provide comfort, affection, and a warm and stable environment. As for your current situation, maybe we can help you figure out what is going on. But first, we need details. If it isn't too painful, please describe a typical example of the treatment that you suspect is abusive. The problem m a y be that you subconsciously project deep-seated feelings of self-loathing and insecurity that stem from the abuse that you suffered as a child. On the s u r f a c e, it sounds as if you need counseling {or better yet, therapy} to help raise your self-esteem and help you sort out what happened in the past as opposed to present reality. Perhaps before you make a decision about the relationship you wrote to us about, perhaps not. Plainly, advice that I or anyone else offered before knowing more would be worse than useless.
