Puma GTC Speedometer Cable

Hi!

My 1981 Puma GTC has a speedometer cable issue.

I pulled off the drivers side front wheel and found that the "e clip" has come off the cable end and retracted under the dust cap.

It appears that the cable moved a bit.

I may just replace the entire thing, because it's 30+ years old...and have to see if it's even possible to buy the correct "e clip", and then to see if the cable is even good.

Does anyone know what the length of this cable should be?

Re: Puma GTC Speedometer Cable

David,
did you try poking it back in (push from back of the spindle)to see if it works? I could mail you a clip.
Best regards,
Jim

Re: Puma GTC Speedometer Cable

Hi Dave
If you can you should keep the original cable because there is a short length of wire and a lead seal on the back of the speedo. But if you need a new cable, like I did, order one for a 1972 Beetle and it worked just fine.
