United States Navy Veterans Association ForumWELCOME TO THE FORUM OF THE UNITED STATES NAVY VETERANS ASSOCIATION
TERMS AND CONDITIONS The Association's Forum is intended for use as a Letters to the Editor Column of a major newspaper. On it you may leave your comments on any subject covered by the Website. You may leave your own byline, or you may remain totally anonymous. The Association intends the Forum as a place for intelligent public discussion among reasonable people. Discussion promotes knowledge. Knowledge equals freedom. And the United States Navy Veterans Association promotes freedom, and especially Providence's special gift of free speech, as a fundamental component of the American way of life. The Forum is monitored, however, and certain things will not be tolerated: pornography, pornographic references or messages, profanity or mere slurs based solely on religion, creed, ancestral origin, race, color of skin, physical disability or gender. The latter is hate speech, the preaching of hatred because of characteristics a person or persons were given at birth, and is the opposite of a reasoned belief system which says that a particular government policy for human beings is a good idea because it advances their existence, or is a bad idea because it does not. Name calling, we also point out, also constitutes neither intelligent discussion nor civil discourse. While name calling may be tolerated on the Forum to a certain degree, it is not approved. So try to sound at least a little bit intelligent in your comments. Commercial entries will be deleted from the Forum forthwith. For people who are trying to sell the Association something, we have given you plenty of ways, instead, for you to access the Association on the Website's Contact Us Page. If you wish to make a criticism of the Association, the Forum is the place to do it. Entries are not deleted from the Forum merely because they are critical of the Association, the Navy, the United States,or the United States Government. The Association believes in free speech. Opinions expressed in an entry are those of the author exclusively, and not necessarily those of the Association. The one exception is when an entry is officially made by a named officer of the Association and headed "For the Association." Facts presented in a non-Association entry are not verified or vouched for by the Association. Submissions become the joint and several property of the entrant and the Association. The Association does not copyright entries as a matter of policy. If your entry is good enough as a news story the Association may enter it on one or more of its Newstands, with your byline. In that case, editing may take place. The Forum takes a maximum of 250 entries. At that time wholesale deletions are made by Forum Editors to free up more space. In making these deletions, the Editors use the criteria of age of entry and a subjective decision as to quality of entry. After June 1, 2003, "Searching For..." entries left on the Forum will be transferred to the "Searching For..." Guestmap on our Links of Interest Page or, if that is not possible, deleted. By submitting an entry, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
