Our Monday Evening Keye Luke Birthday Celebration: "Phantom of Chinatown"

THIS WEEK we celebrate the birthday of our Number One Son, Keye Luke with a viewing of “Phantom of Chinatown.” In something of a “prequel,” a young detective James Lee Wong who is out to solve the mystery of a murder that relates to an archeological expedition in the Mongolian desert and the discovery of an ancient tomb.
As is our custom, we begin arriving at 7:30 Eastern Time, we will be sharing, before our featured presentation, an “extra” in the form of a vintage Charlie Chan continuing radio drama! Following our “extra,” we will collectively run our feature at 8:15!

FEATURE SUMMARY: Detective James Lee Wong is on the scene as archaeologist Dr. John Benton, recently returned from an expedition in China where a valuable ancient scroll was recovered, is murdered while giving a lecture on the expedition.
FILM NOTES: “Phantom of Chinatown” the last of Monogram Pictures’ Mr. Wong films and the only one to star Keye Luke in the role that was originated by Boris Karloff. This is also the only movie where Keye Luke played in a starring role.
TIME: We begin with arrivals and greetings at 7:30 EASTERN TIME. Then, we share our “extra,” which will be followed at exactly 8:15 (EDT) when we share our featured presentation “Phantom of Chinatown.”
