Help! looking for Charlie Chan movies no longer available

Hello, I am looking for Charlie Chan Carries On, Charlie Chan's Chance, Charlie Chan's Courage, and Charlie Chan's Greatest Case. If, I can even purchase a copy of your dvd, I would be most appreciative.

Re: Help! looking for Charlie Chan movies no longer available

SOFIA, i am a longtime Chan fan only relatively newly affiliated with the great & powerful Chan Clan; i'll tell you you've come to a right place in your search.
I write because i do NOT know the three Chan entries you've mentioned and hope you will contact me when you find them. As you yourself suggested, a copy in any form would be accepted with gratitude. Would you make a note, & let me know? I'll gladly pay any charges that would bring any more Charlie into my humble abode.
If you haven't already visited, i want to suggest that you drop in on Monday nights from 7:30 (Eastern time) to 9ish when aficionados gather for a communal viewing of one or more works in the Chantheon. A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
I wish that fate smiles upon your search, & that you'll share any results.

Re: Help! looking for Charlie Chan movies no longer available

Sofia, if you look across the top menue of the Charlie Chan Family Home's website (on the homepage), you will see a link to "THE LOST FILMS." The reason you cannot find them is because they were destroyed in fire, or some other catastrophie, long ago. So if you find one call 20th Century Fox, and collect some big bucks!(smile)

There is, however, a Spanish language version of "Charlie Chan Carries On" titled "Eran Trece." It is a special feature, on the DVD for "Charlie Chan in Shanghai."

Also, under that same link (The Lost Films) there are production "scripts" of the movies, that Rush has posted.

Hope that helps. Lou

Re: Help! looking for Charlie Chan movies no longer available

Hi, Sofia. Every Chan fan has been searching for these films for a long time. As stated, the last known copies of these films are presumed to be long lost, possibly destroyed in an archive fire. This topic has also been discussed on a related website called "Charlie Chan Message Board", and is also discussed in several books about the Chan movies. Also, over the years, several active participants on our Chan sites contacted films archives around the world, and no copies of these films could be located. We still hold out hope that a copy may someday be found buried in someone's private collection. We remember that "Charlie Chan in Paris" was thought to be lost, until a copy showed up in Europe.
