Happy to pass along this link to a series about Chang Apana that ran for 20 weeks in a Hawaiian newspaper a few years ago (2014)... sent to me by a friend in Hawaii whose last name (Frank Chun) is spelled with the same Chinese character as Charlie Chan's.
The author, John Noland, died the past June after an street attack.

Len, Rush, I had downloaded copies of all 20 weeks of the series from Midweek Magazine. When the series stopped, I contacted John to find out why. He said basically he ran out of funding and was looking for sponsors to continue the series. We emailed a few times about starting a possible "Go-Fund-Me" account, but that never came to fruition. His death was a very sad event, and the irony of where and how it happened was tragic. TXS, Lou
