I hope that everyone who frequents this Message Board, our Charlie Chan Family Home, as well as our CCF members and their families had a wonderful Thanksgiving today! I will say what I always do, that it is all of YOU for whom I am so very grateful and thankful! We are so blessed to have such a wonderful, kind, and knowledgeable group of individuals come together, especially on our Monday nights!
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you ALL for making all of this what it is and has been for two decades!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. In the past, we have mentioned on this Board that there are references to Christmas and Easter in Chan movies. I don't remember any reference to Thanksgiving. Does anyone else recall?
Yes, John, you are right. There are a couple of references to Easter in “Charlie Chan in Reno,” as Chan perfects a method of decorating an Easter egg and Jimmy prepares to take off to assist his Pop in Reno on Easter break from USC. Charlie Chan notes that he has “never met Santa Claus but would happily accept a gift from same” in “Charlie Chan at the Olympics.” However, there was never a mention of Thanksgiving, but there was a mention of Chinese New Year in “The Golden Eye,” and that is about all I can recall of holidays being noted in any way. Maybe we will come across another when we least expect it!
