OUR CCF MONDAY EVENING CHAT AND FILM VIEWING FOR January 10 “Eran Trece” (“There Were Thirtee

FROM CHARLIE CHAN: “Only very brave mouse make nest in cat's ear.”

GREETINGS! As we continue our yearlong journey through the films of Charlie Chan series, we now share “Eran Trece,” the Spanish language version of “Charlie Chan Carries On.” This version, starring Manuel Arbo as Charlie Chan, is a very close “copy” of the first film in the Charlie Chan film series, and provides a glimpse of what the Warner Oland version was probably like!

OUR CHAT ROOM: Our Chat Room can be accessed the same way that we accessed by going to our “Chat Room” link at charliechan.info, or use this direct link: http://www.charliechan.info/id17.html

We Begin our evening at 7:30 Eastern Time with a 45-minute time for arrivals and greetings. During this time, we also have the opportunity to engage in open dialogue. Then, at precisely 8:15, we begin our feature film simultaneously starting our personal or online copies of the movie!

THIS WEEK’S PRESENTATION: “Eran Trece” (1931; 79 minutes).

FEATURE INTRODUCTION: Inspector Duff, a Scotland Yard detective, and a friend of Charlie Chan, is pursuing a murderer who is a part of an around-the-world tour group. While his ship is docked in Honolulu, the detective is shot and wounded by the killer. With Duff in critical condition, Charlie Chan carries on the pursuit for his fallen friend.

FEATURE NOTES: “Eran Trece” was the Spanish language version of “Charlie Chan Carries On,” using Spanish-speaking actors and actresses in its cast, and following the original script, with minor changes. This was the only Spanish version of a film from the Charlie Chan series. Some sources erroneously include Luana Alaniz in the cast of Eran Trece. In his autobiography, L. B. Abbott notes that he assisted photographer Sidney Wagner on “Eran Trece.” “Eran Trece” was the only Spanish version in the Charlie Chan series.
