Re: Charlie Chan

Dear David,

Thank you for your message! Your story is similar to that of many of us who share a passion for Charlie Chan! Your mention of Charlie Chan exemplifying Buddhist values is interesting, and yes, that would be true! One may also detect some Taoist principles at times, as well as Christian. With a foot firmly planted in both Chinese and western (American) cultures, he certainly draws from both!

Thank you, again, and please consider joining us on a Monday evening for one of our chats and film viewings!

Sincerely,
Rush Glick

Re: Charlie Chan

David welcome!

“A family is a place where minds come in contact with one another. If these minds love one another the home will be as beautiful as a flower garden. But if these minds get out of harmony with one another it is like a storm that plays havoc with the garden.” - Buddha

(Ok, I admit it. I looked that up :relieved: )

Re: Charlie Chan

Thank you for the wonderful quote from the Buddha. I wasn't able to join you in the chat room Monday night, so my wife and I watched Charlie Chan at Treasure Island on Tuesday and followed it with Charlie Chan In Shanghai. One of my favorite scenes from C . Chan in Shanghai is Key Luke doing that amazing flying tackle. I wonder how many actors today would have the guts to do that.
