A Mom Bulletin

For those of you who know or have heard about my mother . . . an update:

Mother had been increasingly uncomfortable during our recent electrical outage. She said that watching my stepfather and I throwing all that food out tired her!

I thought it was at least partially weather related because the arthritis in her spine can be affected by heat and humidity. (She's weird that way, being bothered by heat!) We STILL have thunderstorms forecast for most of next week so you can imagine the continued humidity.

She went to the doctor yesterday and confessed that her discomfort was increasingly related to an increased pain in her spine. Mother hadn't wanted to say anything in case her doctor would put her in the hospital (something I was afraid of).

Fortunately, her doctor said that if she took the pain perscription he was giving her she could go home. As far as getting into the hospital, she couldn't have anyway since they are still full from the people who had worse health problems from THEIR power outages and/or from the flash floodings we have had this week from our continued storms.

So . . . she's apologizing for scaring us and making more work for us for the time being . . . and then thinks up three or four things she like me to do simultaneously. I am fervently practicing my Chan smile or go running off into the sunset!

At this rate--I may be in the hosptital Monday night and SHE may be in the chat room!

Re: A Mom Bulletin

So sorry, Virginia! I'm praying! I have often heard that our weather patterns are the same as those across Texas. We've had mostly cloudy weather, rain and storms too, but at least we've kept our electricity through it all! I've had to do the Food Fling during power outages more than once and it's no fun. Hang in there girlfriend and I hope you can make it Monday night! ~Mrs. P

Re: A Mom Bulletin

God be with you and give you strength. An equal measure to your mother, and all others who love her. I've lost track; if you STILL have no power then I pray for the utility workers in their labors.

Re: Re: A Mom Bulletin

Maurelius,
Fortunately, we've had it since last Thursday. Several thousands didn't well into the weekend when another storm hit and caused thousands of others to loose power.
Now our area just has to worry about flash floods. We gratefully live on a lot that has a fifty foot drop from the front of the property down into the creek behind us. Only twice have floods come up into the back yard. Only the snakes have made it up to the house!

Re: A Mom Bulletin

Dear Virginia: I was wondering why we had not had the pleasure of your company lately.

I MISSED YOU !
I AM VERY SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT MOTHER...
However, I feel even "BAD-ER" for you.
What you are going thru, right now, as your Mother's one and only "CAREGIVER" is extremely hard on you.
You are getting the double whammy ! It is one thing for a non-relative to do the care giving. It is the hardest and the most emotional when the caregiver is a daughter, a son or a spouse. In my opinion it is the hardest when it is a daughter. Men seem to have broader shoulders then we do. They don't get their feeling hurt like us gals. Also; I find that MOST patients are not as short or demanding with their men-folk as they are with the women-folk.
I WISHED I WERE THERE TO HELP OUT AND GIVE YOU SOME WELL DESERVED SUPPORT, Auntie

Re: Re: A Mom Bulletin

Dear Auntie,
You all have been an incredible as my primary outlets!

Y'all blissfully let me forget everything but Charlie . . . and now the delightful hold on our hearts, Sarah . . . .

You all make great emotional insurance and I can never thank you all enough!

Re: A Mom Bulletin

Virginia,

You and your mother (as well as all your family) have my prayers.

Living in what is referred to as the "lightning capital of the world" (west central Florida) I can identify with thunderstorms and lack of electricity. Again, I'm sorry and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Re: A Mom Bulletin

Dear Virginia,

I'm very happy, and relieved, to hear that your mother is doing better! The title of your post got me worried until I read the text of your post. Please give your mother warm wishes from the whole Glick family, and, please ask her not to frighten all of us!

Sincerely,
Rush

Re: Re: A Mom Bulletin

Rush,
What do you think LIVING with her does to ME?!?!?!
You think I got this way NATURALLY?!?!
