We were watching NCIS this evening and were surprised that they used the cigarette trick that had started the fire on the ship in Race Track.
They mentioned it would take 12 minutes to ignite, which was about the lenghth of time that Charlie and Lee found it to work in their experiment aboard ship.
Who knows, perhaps a writer for that TV show was familiar with the cigarette "fuse" as seen on "Charlie Chan at the Race Track." Tuning in to watch "The Amazing Race," I came in on the tail end of that show last night, so the cigarette angle didn't cause any particular stirring of my admittedly weak memory!
