I guess no one read my post on the movie announcement for last Monday,so here it is again.

Now real reason for this post. Since I was not able to see it with you guys and gals, you know I was gonna bring it up. ..... THE HAT ..... Yes honorable Charlie Chan wore his hat with the "bow" in the back. All picture long. Which means that had to be a round hat and not oval. Other wise it would have had to be worn different because it would have gotten "out of shape" badly had he tried to wear it that way. He wore the "bow" in the back. Does anyone know why. He did that on a couple of pictures, but I am wondering was this a "trend setter" thing. LOL A wonderful hat.

I missed you guys. I am sorry I could not be there. Hope you missed me. LOL

I am sorry that you were not able to join us this past Monday evening. Hopefully technical "glitches" will not cause this again!

The hat you mention has been brought up for discussion before, both here and at our Chat/Viewings. It is my opinion that Charlie Chan was making a "fashion statement" by having the bow on the hat band placed to the rear of the hat. You may be correct that the hat had a round-shaped crown, allowing the wearer to place the hat on his head any way desired. It could also be that the band was loose, allowing it to be repositioned. Another possibility is that the hat worn by Mr Chan 9perhaps my favorite Chan hat of the series) was actually designed to be worn in that manner.

Like you, I hold a certain fascination for the many hats that Mr. Chan wore during the course of the Charlie Chan series proper (1931-49).
