Dear Chan Fans: As many of you probably know, Roland Winters, the last actor to play Charlie in the original series, appeared in Blue Hawaii as Elvis' father. Recently, I was surprised to note a new Elvis/Chan "connection". While channel surfing this past weekend I stoped on AMC and watched a few moments of "Girls,Girls,Girls". A young chinese man was aboard a boat "telephoning" his mother by radio-phone. She exited her home shouting to her husband that their "Number One Son" was calling. The father, working on a beached craft with Elvis was Benson Fong. Strange, but true
I had never heard of the Chan connection you mention, either! Now I have a reason to view this Elvis movie just to see Benson Fong and the moment that you note. I wonder if this was some sort of "inside joke" reference to Fong's participation as a son of Charlie Chan? Very possibly...
