Charlie Chan Silent Films

What is known about HOUSE WITHOUT A KEY and THE CHINESE PARROT, both 1926 silent films? I know they are listed as unavailable, but do they exist in a vault somewhere?

Re: Charlie Chan Silent Films

Cyd,
If they were available somewhere, somebody would have "sprung" them by now! Not to mention rooted around for the four missing ones with Warner Oland!

I think we should all go over to Ted Turners bedroom and look in the nightstand.

Re: Charlie Chan Silent Films

Sadly, 80% of all silent movies are now considered "lost" (or "temporarily misplaced" as I like to say). Occasionally new ones are found, but that's pretty rare. As more eastern archives are opened some previously missing films may be found, but I'm not holding my breath.

Many early Fox films were destroyed in a fire in 1937. This was before the days when 16mm copies made the rounds of collectors and TV stations which really limits our chances of ever finding these.
