I Wonder....

I wonder what your "PC" crowd would make of George Formby? Formby was a very popular comic from the northwest of England (my "neck of the woods") in the Thirties and Forties. He made a whole series of recordings about "Mr. Wu" a chinese laundry-man. In "Chinese Laundry Blues" he sings "...now Mr. Wu, he's got a naughty eye that flickers, you ought to see it wobble when he's ironing ladies ...blouses!"
His record "Hindoo Man" contains this line "...A Princess gave him jewels and said, for all your love I yearn, but jewels could not compare with what he went and gave her in return!"

Re: I Wonder....

Doesn't sound too bad. They'd probably let it slide. Of course, when it comes to the PC crowd...

I wonder...

what the PC crowd would do next if they ever successfully censored, sanitized, and surpressed all the politically incorrect references in our films and literature. It's my feeling that surpressing something that was part of our history is really just presenting a lie of what our history was really like. Our history is full of warts and imperfections. That's the truth. Erasing our past indiscretions is not akin to building a time machine, going into the past, and purging all instances of political incorectness. Whatever our history was is past. How about spending the time, money, and energy making the present and future better times to live in for everyone?
