Please join us tonight as our Chat/Film Viewing will feature “Charlie Chan in Shanghai” starring Warner Oland, as we continue our month-long celebration of the release of the “Charlie Chan Collection, Volume 1” DVD box set from 20th Century-Fox! All this month, we have been focusing on the films contained in this handsomely produced collection. In this picture, Charlie Chan travels to the mysterious city of Shanghai to help and old friend. Soon, he and son Lee are embroiled in a life-or-death struggle with an international opium smuggling gang which has left a trail of murder.
We begin, as is our long-standing custom, at 8:00 p.m., EASTERN time with arrivals and greetings. Then, thirty minutes later, we begin running our personal copies of this very fine film, which allows us to watch it together as our evening’s discussion progresses.
