I received my Charlie Chan movies from Vintage Theater.
I tried to watch Charlie Chan in London and is way too jerkey to watch.
I don't think it's recorded that way even if they got it off of TV.
I think the DVD is sticking in my player.
I don't have any trouble with other moves that are not Chan movies.
Any ideas.
I am sorry to hear of your troubles with the DVD set. It sounds as if the format they used may not be compatible with your player. Can you try the DVDs on someone else's player to see if they work there? If you cannot play the product oto your satisfaction, please request a refund. They should accomodate your request. Please let me know what you find.
The DVD's seem to hang continually.
If I watch the clock on the player it stalls continually.
Also as it is in play mode I see flashs of color when the clock stalls.
A bunch of little squares.
Me again.
I think it may be in the recordings.
I'm now trying "Behind Thet Curtain" and it hangs at exactaly 51 seconds every time and then goes on.
It just hung up at 5:52 and then went on.
But it is watchable so far.
Is your copy of Charlie Chan in London Really bad.
Mine is not watchable.
These are illegal bootleg DVDS from a vendor with a terrible reputation. Sadly, it does not surprise me that you are having troubles as others have posted on cc.net that they've had similar problems.
Charlie Chan in London is in great shape on the legal Fox release. If you can return this set I would do so. The legal version might be a couple more dollars but you get what you pay for (better picture quality/transfers, longer lasting media plus the wonderful bonus features that Rush & Dr. Berlin were so involved in). Also supporting the Fox releases will ensure that the entire series gets released.
I have the Vintage Theatre 14 DVD, 42 movie Chan set myself. Looks like DVD-R's, but my entire set plays with no problems. Sure, the quality varies from movie to movie, but more than a few transfers are exceptional for public domain issues.
