I was hoping anyone out there would have some info on how I would go about finding out if this letter I found in my mothers stuff is for real. He appears to have been written to my fathers dad in July of 1945, by Sidney Toler. Seems they must have known one another. It is a hand written letter with a signed picuture of him signed as Charlie Chan, but letter signed Sidney.

Dear Julie (Sheff),

It was a great pleasure to have you join us for our Monday evening Chat/Film Viewing last night. Thank you for sharing with us about the unique item(s) that you mention. As I said then, I feel that what you have is genuine. I have a signed item by Toler, and I could send you a scan of it so that you could compare it with yours, if you like.

I think it would be interesting to learn more about your grandfather's relationship with Mr. Toler. Was he involved in movie making in the mid-1940s? Or, was he simply a friend of Toler's?
