Our Monday Evening Chat and Film Viewing movie will be “Castle in the Desert,” starring Sidney Toler as we continue our month of “spooky” Charlie Chan movies! In our film for this week, Mr. Chan seeks, with Number Two Son, Jimmy, on leave from his Army duties, search out the reason for the eerie goings-on at Manderley Castle, a Medieval castle located in the midst of California’s Mojave Desert. Will Charlie Cha, himself, fall victim to the murderer who lurks within the stone walls of the Castle in the Desert?

We begin, as usual, at 8:00 p.m., EASTERN time with arrivals and greetings and a trip to Virginia’s virtual beverage cart. Then, thirty minutes later, we begin running our personal copies of this very worthy film, which allows us to watch it together as our evening’s discussion progresses.

I have been watching Charlie Chan films for over 30 years.:) I'm a big fan. I just recently brought a complete box set of the entire Chan series. Needless to say, I have been on a Chan honey moon. LOLOL

About 11 or 12 years ago AMC had a 24 hour Charlie Chan fest. I watched the whole marathon I even timed my bathroom breaks in between each film. LOL

Do you watch the film and then chat afterwards or do you chat during the film? Thanks

We start gathering at Rush's chat room at 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time, catching up with each other and getting ready to watch the movie of the week--Tonight's movie will be "Castle in the Desert."

Rush will count us down so we can all start our copies (tape or DVD) together at 8:30. Even when we don't have the movie that week . . . we still join in because our usual conversations can get way beyond that night's movie!!

Craig, I hope you mark October 29th on your calendar because we'll be having our annual Halloween party where everyone comes in virtual costume as one of the characters in a Chan movie. (My nome de Chan has been Mrs. Lowell from CC's Secret for some years now!)
