Charlie Chan and San Francisco's Chinatown.

I have added an article by Jesse B. Cook about San Francisco's Chinatown back in the period when our Charlie Chan was growing up and then traveled Stateside to visit relatives there.

He was in San Francisco's Chinatown in Charlie Chan's Chance (1932) and The Golden Eye (1948 - and at the Chinese New Year, no less!) and mentions the game of fan tan in Olympics (1937).

You can click on the website above for easier linking and I hope you enjoy it!

And I have added another page for movie sightings of Chan actors in other films/series at Charlie Chan Extras, which I will be adding to periodically. If you know of any such movies, please let me know so I can post it, giving you your proper due in the process!

Thanks,
Virginia

Re: Charlie Chan and San Francisco's Chinatown.

Dear Virginia,

Thank you so much for this latest offering to Chan fans. All Chinatowns have a very colorful and rich history, and San Francisco's, which was visited by Charlie Chan in both the Biggers books and films, is probably the most well known.

Keep up the great work!

Sincerely,
Rush

Re: Charlie Chan and San Francisco's Chinatown.

Dear Virginia,
I too would like to extend my gratitude for the article. I have decided to enter a script-writing challenge in April called Script Frenzy and am setting the story in 1946 Chinatown (SF). Perhaps Rush would recognize the title as he was the one who came up with it... The Dragon of Chinatown.

Originally I was going to do it as a Chan movie but have decided to create my own detective and do it in the tradition of Charlie Chan. I've been doing research of 1940s SF and found a lot of interesting things.

Wish me luck for this coming April!!

Good Luck!
