Our TUESDAY Evening Chat/Film Viewing: A Chan Mini Marathon on TCM!

Please join us for our a very special edition of our Monday Evening Chat and Film Viewing as we gather together on a TUESDAY evening, tonight, a mini Charlie Chan marathon on TCM (Turner Classic Movies). Our evening begins with “Charlie Chan at the Circus” which airs at 8:00 p.m., Eastern Time. Next follows “Charlie Chan in Honolulu,” and our lengthy evening rounds out with “The Scarlet Clue.” We will also be able to watch the commentary on these films, which will hopefully be more fair and even-handed than that which we had to endure a number of years ago courtesy of Fox Movie Channel (FMC)…

On this special evening, we begin at 7:30 p.m., Eastern Time with arrivals and greetings and a trip to Virginia’s virtual beverage cart. Then, thirty minutes later, we begin viewing the first of THREE very worthy films, which allows us to watch them together as our evening’s discussion progresses.

Our Chat Room is located HERE at our Charlie Chan Family Home. Please use any of the “Chat Room” links to join us.

If you do not have access to TCM to view these three movies, you might consider viewing personal copies. Also, as is our custom, newcomers are offered the seat of honor at our humble table.

So, let’s get together for another fun evening as we view “Charlie Chan at the Circus,” “Charlie Chan in Honolulu,” and “The Scarlet Clue.”

Sincerely,
Rush Glick

I might actually try and make it today.

Re: Our TUESDAY Evening Chat/Film Viewing: A Chan Mini Marathon on TCM!

I really enjoyed the Warner Oland portrayal in C. C. at the Circus. In the movie Charlie has his own way of saying famous phrases that are a little unusual. However one such aphorism he used was actually more accurate than the way it is usually heard. In one scene Charlie says that "Music soothe savage breast." While this is a shortened version of the actual saying, it is ironically more accurate, as it is ususally misstated as "Music has charms to soothe a savage BEAST", when indeed breast is the proper word.
