Question about new DICK TRACY RKO CLASSIC COLLECTION from VCI?

VCI recently released a DICK TRACY RKO CLASSIC COLLECTION on DVD. I always thought the RKO film library belonged to WARNER? Are these movies in the Public Domain or were these licensed to VCI by WARNER? Just Curious?

Hi Sam,

The majority of the RKO library belongs to Warner but not all. The Tracy films, at least one of which is PD, is among those that don't.

A similar situation exists with the Monograms. Warner owns many, but not all. That's why MGM released the first 6 Monogram Chans.
