Our Monday Evening Chat/Film Viewing: "Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo"
Please plan on joining with us for our Monday Evening Chat/Film Viewing as we watch “Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo,” starring Warner Oland with Keye Luke. Sadly, this was to be Warner Oland’s final appearance as Charlie Chan as the next picture, “Charlie Chan at the Ringside,” never got off the ground, due to Mr. Oland’s storied breakdown. Later, during a trip to Europe before he was scheduled to resume the series, Warner Oland was, while visiting his native Sweden, gathered to his honorable ancestors.
In “Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo,” we see father and son working together as they had on numerous cases before. This case is a tough one to crack, and, as it involves economic speculation in international proportions as well as murder, we, along with America’s greatest detective, are in for a roller coaster ride of an adventure!
We begin, as usual, at 8:00 p.m., Eastern Time with arrivals and greetings and a trip to Virginia’s virtual beverage cart. Then, thirty minutes later, we begin running our personal copies of this very worthy film, which allows us to watch it together as our evening’s discussion progresses.
