Please join with us for our Monday Evening Chat/Film Viewing as we watch “Charlie Chan in Reno,” starring Sidney Toler with Victor Sen Yung. This was Mr. Toler’s second appearance as Charlie Chan. Does he seem to have set the next standard for the character by this movie? In this film, Charlie Chan leaves the warm confines of his own Honolulu for the spring chill of Reno, in the high desert of Nevada. There, he seeks, along with the unexpected help from Number Two Son, Jimmy, to prove an old friend innocent of murder charges. Is Chan up to this daunting task? Can he overcome the interference of local sheriff “Tombstone” Fletcher?
We begin, as usual, at 8:00 p.m., Eastern Time with arrivals and greetings and a trip to Virginia’s virtual beverage cart. Then, thirty minutes later, we begin running our personal copies of this very worthy film, which allows us to watch it together as our evening’s discussion progresses.
