Tonight, please plan on joining with us for our Monday Evening Chat/Film Viewing as we watch “Charlie Chan in Panama,” starring Sidney Toler. What is Charlie Chan doing in Panama, selling Panama hats under the name of Fu Yuen? What is Jimmy Chan doing in a jail in Balboa, Panama? We will find these answers and much more as we share this adventure which has vast ramifications, not to mention…murder.

We begin, as usual, at 8:00 p.m., Eastern Time with arrivals and greetings and a trip to Virginia’s virtual beverage cart. Then, thirty minutes later, we begin running our personal copies of this very worthy film, which allows us to watch it together as our evening’s discussion progresses.

According to Bill Lutters, there is a blooper - at least continuity-wise, with Lionel Atwill's character. Manolo offers him a cigarette at the beginning of the movie and Compton declines because he only smokes his pipe.

Later when Compton is scrounging through Kathi's bags in the cabaret dressing room he opens a cigarette case and lights up.

I'll be looking forward to checking it out tonight . . . . I'm sure I'll be in the chat room but . . . we are having rains this week. Last night's storm was so heavy upstream that our "creek" behind our house turned into a Viennese canal!
