Re: 20th Century Auction

Dear Virginia,

Steve Fredrick brought this auction to my attention a few days ago. Through his diligent efforts, he turned up not only information on the auction and a general scope of the range of items available, but also the location of the site you mention. While on the telephone with Steve, we went through all of the items still available, and while some could have possibly appeared somehow in a Charlie Chan film, it was doubtful whether anything notable was available. Certainly, the Chan family photograph that appears in a number of the earlier adventures did not turn up in our search!

Sincerely,
Rush

Re: 20th Century Auction

The auction of movie props from 20th Century Props is both exciting and sad. Some amazing items went up for bid.

The Los Angeles Times newspaper produced a video tour of the warehouse. When you have time, check it out "Give Him His Props." Just google "20th Century Props North Hollywood."

As Rush mentioned, we did not find any props related to the Charlie Chan films. According to my contacts, this is the seventh auction of movie props involving 20th Century-Fox studios. Where are the props from the Chan films? Are there any detectives interested in searching for clues?

Owner Harvey Schwartz housed these amazing items under one roof for almost 40 years. Now they will go their separate ways. This collection should have been turned into a museum.

Another example of Hollywood history disappearing. How sad for film buffs.
