Warner Oland is the best Charlie Chan and he is of Swedish origin. He is part Mongolian due to his Russian grandmother.

Warner Oland was proud of the probable Mongolian "flavor" to his blood. He was also very interested in Asian culture and philosophy, particularly that of China, a land that he and his wife, Edith visited in 1936.
