We are familiar with the Chan stories by and the movies. . . . Otherwise we wouldn't be here!

I got to thinking of Chan in a slightly different light in that there are, in a matter of speaking, other mysteries that surround Chan himself.

1. Why did Jimmy Chan become Tommy in the Roland Winters movies?

2. For that matter, what was Charlie doing in San Francisco for all six of Winters' Chans?

3. Where were Mrs. Chan and the other Chan Children? (One could be making the case that Lee was still in college/art school/learning to fly/etc.)

4. If Jimmy did become Tommy, why?

5. Why did CC become seasick in Broadway when he clearly didn't have any such problem in Olympics . . . other than a plot device, of course!

6. CC's finances: Just how much did Charlie Chan make as a detective and how did he get it? He evidently managed to make enough to support upwards of 14 children and send Lee to art school (and flight school?!) and Jimmy to college.
Did it all come from the Honolulu Police Department?
If he made extra income from his extracurricular cases (London, Paris, etc.) then was any of this considered part of his police pay or was it paid directly to him?

6. This gets back to #2 and #3: Was he paying out support payments to Mrs. Chan and the other kids in Honolulu and/or just how expensive WAS living in Honolulu/San Francisco?!

7. Just why did Winters call him "Lt. Mike"? Was it an affection name for a brother officer or an affectation?

Anybody have other ones?!
