Charlie Chan On Catalina Island

Greetings, Chan Fans--
I am very interested in identifying a Charlie Chan movie made on Catalina Island. I know the film exists, because I saw it once on late night TV. I thought that its name was "Charlie Chan On Catalina" but I can find no trace of it, by that name or any other. I think that it dates to the late 1930s because of the island landmarks in the movie. My family has long ties to the island, and I'd like to locate the film. Can anyone help?
Chuck

Re: Charlie Chan On Catalina Island

Hello,

My guess would be "Charlie Chan in Panama" (1940). Of course it's only a guess. Many wiser souls on this forum probably know for sure.

Re: Charlie Chan On Catalina Island

I've never heard of any Charlie Chan film being set on Catalina. But there was a film in another mystery series that was set there. It's a Hildegarde Withers mystery. It's called Murder on a Honeymoon and was made in 1935. Perhaps that's the movie you were thinking of. It's pretty good.
